The Opportunity
We are supporting the growth of a leading offshore wind engineering team and are seeking a Senior or Principal Structural Design Engineer with proven expertise in the design of jacket foundations for offshore wind turbines.
This role offers the opportunity to lead the development of innovative foundation solutions for major offshore wind projects across Europe and beyond. You will play a key role in foundation concept development, turbine integration, stakeholder management, and supporting procurement activities throughout project development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the structural design and development of jacket foundations for offshore wind turbines.
- Develop and evaluate foundation concepts for a range of turbine technologies and project requirements.
- Perform and oversee structural analyses, calculations, and design assessments.
- Work closely with offshore wind turbine manufacturers to ensure foundation and turbine interface requirements are met.
- Support the procurement process for externally contracted foundation design scopes.
- Provide technical leadership throughout concept, FEED, and detailed design stages.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project developers, fabricators, and installation contractors.
- Review and manage technical deliverables from external engineering consultants and contractors.
- Support risk reduction, value engineering, and optimisation of foundation solutions.
Essential Requirements
- Degree qualified in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in the design of jacket foundations for offshore wind projects.
- Extensive offshore wind industry experience.
- Proven track record leading the development of foundation concepts for multiple turbine options.
- Excellent understanding of structural design principles for offshore structures.
- Ability to operate at Senior or Principal Engineer level.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with Primary Steel design for offshore wind foundations.
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards).
- Experience across concept, FEED, detailed design, fabrication, and installation phases.
- Familiarity with relevant offshore wind and structural design standards.
- Experience supporting procurement activities relating to foundation design packages.
- Any experience working directly with offshore wind turbine manufacturers (OEMs).
