Head of NPI – Autonomous Vehicle Design Engineering - UK

The role:

Entrepreneurial and innovative business leader with vision and the ability to set commercial strategy. Extremely flexible and resourceful in developing new markets. This is a wide ranging role, with a focus on growing the business – leveraging  exceptional technical expertise, industry leading technology (both hardware & software), a global customer base and brand reputation to deliver large turn-key and innovative projects.                                                                                                   

Main Responsibilities

• Technology Leader for design, development and delivery of innovative world class autonomous driving solutions into new markets.
• Use your technical vision and commercial strategy to drive the business forward.
• Devise a technical roadmap, providing a competitive edge predominately with technology across Automotive, MHE, Defence and Industrial sectors.
• Deliver and manage design for autonomous driving systems, including – AI, machine vision, machine learning, sensors, controls, electrical systems, Hardware & software
• Cross-functional Management, including:
  • Technical: Design & Systems Engineers
  • NPI/ Product Management
  • Commercial (Business Development, Key Accounts, P&L)
• See the bigger picture, as well as the finer details, as this role encompasses high level strategic direction, as well as new project introduction and hitting revenue targets.
• Develop a global business model, strategic partnerships and joint ventures.
• Liaise at all levels, including peers, clients, suppliers and the senior team.

• Degree in Engineering, Electronic, Mechatronic, IT or other relevant discipline.
• Experience of working in MHE: any of Mechanical Handling, Forklift, Baggage Handling, Agricultural, Smart Factory, Industry 4.0
• Any of: AI, Sensors, controls, electrical systems, electronics, mechantronics, software, machine learning, machine vision, robotics.
• Electrical/ Electronic / Software/ Hardware/ AI engineering background.
• Possess the technical vision and commercial acumen to leverage business growth opportunities.
• Good team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Understanding of client requirements and ability to explain complex technical material.
• Highly driven and self-motivated, with an ability to deliver results within tight deadlines.

Preferable

• 8+ years in a technology environment, ideally with product development
• Background in Design & New Product Introduction for High tech Software or Engineering. 
• Further Degree /Professional qualification
• Business Growth: Business Development, New Product Introduction, Account Management
• Autonomous Vehicle or similar Systems knowledge.
• Agile

NB: This is a Senior level role for experienced Client facing & commercially minded Engineers with track record in using products for business growth.

You will require an engineering degree, experience in design engineering, product development and business development, and an extensive knowledge of the Mechanical Handling Equipment sector
