Fire Safety Engineer – MAGIC

Our client is leader in the design of fire protection systems and solutions

Fire is one of the most critical hazards and accurately modelling its behaviour is vital to managing risk.

Model fire in a wide range of sectors and support more accurate analysis and safer design. Taking into account the uncertainties involved and the fidelity of the models.

And Specific challenges involved in certain sectors such as nuclear.

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess an accredited degree within the engineering field and experience in safety analysis and fire protection systems.

Role

  • Assessing the risk of damage  
  • Analysing the 3D model and identification of the various combustible materials present in each area
  • Modelling using MAGIC software for fire safety doctrine development, fire zone sectoring and Fire Probabilistic Risk Assessment.

 

  • Experience of preparation and implementation of technical safety documentation & technical reports addressing issues for plants at design, build, operation and end of life stages.
  • Fire protection: Analyse and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with guidelines
  • Recommending protection solutions to prevent an outbreak of fire
  • Fire protection calculations using specific software
  • Standards such as BS9999
  • Recommending fire detection and firefighting methods for the quickest possible detection and response
  • Functional redundancy
  • Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve complex engineering problems

 

 

Essential experience

  • Fire protection Standards
  • Degree in relevant engineering or scientific discipline eg Mechanical or similar
  • MAGIC (or nuclear specific fire modelling software).
  • Calculation methodologies and fire requirements using 3D model
  • apply fire protection engineering practices with model codes, regulations and standards
  • Monitoring changes issued by others (eg Electrical, HVAC)
  • A positive, proactive and enthusiastic approach with excellent interpersonal and communication skills

A chemical or nuclear industry background would be a distinct advantage.
